School Choice & Open Enrollment

If you live outside the McGilvra Attendance Zone, you may apply to attend through the Seattle Public Schools Open Enrollment for School Choice process. We have a number of students at McGilvra who have been accepted through this program and we encourage you to apply!

Seattle Public Schools is making changes to the application process for the 2026-27 school year, so it is important to pay close attention to deadlines as the application window will be shorter than in past year.

This is what we know as of December 1, 2025. Please verify information and deadlines on the SPS website.

Here is what we know:

• For the best chance of acceptance, school choice applications for the 2026-27 school year should be submitted between January 5 and January 31, 2026.

• Submission during this window will allow you to benefit from the choice lottery and sibling priority (if applicable).

• Late applications will be accepted through March 31, but will receive lower priority.
