School Choice & Open Enrollment

If you live outside the McGilvra Attendance Zone, you may apply to attend through the Seattle Public Schools Open Enrollment for School Choice process. We have a number of students at McGilvra who have been accepted through this program and we encourage you to apply!

Seattle Public Schools is making changes to the application process for the 2026-27 school year, so it is important to pay close attention to deadlines as the application window will be shorter than in past year.

This is what we know as of October 30, 2025. Please verify information and deadlines on the SPS website.

Here is what we know:

• The School Choice application window for the 2026-27 school year will be January 5 - 31, 2026.

• Newly enrolled SPS students interested in attending a school that is not in their attendance area need to submit the online enrollment application prior to the deadline.

• No school choice applications will be accepted after January 31, 2026.
