Standing Up for McGilvra

The McGilvra PTA has been actively engaged in advocacy efforts to support our school community. Recently, our collective actions—including writing letters, submitting comments, and participating in rallies—successfully prevented the closure of McGilvra Elementary, ensuring that our school continues its century-long tradition of serving students. This achievement underscores the power of unified community involvement.

Looking ahead, our advocacy will focus on two primary objectives:

1. Securing Increased Public Education Funding: We will urge state officials to reform the current school funding model to address ongoing budget challenges affecting districts across Washington. This includes supporting other schools, such as Stevens, Sacajawea, North Beach, and Sanislo, in their efforts to prevent closures.

2. Promoting McGilvra to Boost Enrollment: We aim to increase student enrollment by highlighting McGilvra’s strengths to prospective families. This involves organizing school tours and encouraging current parents to share their positive experiences within the community.

We encourage all community members to stay informed and participate in these initiatives. For updates and information on how to contribute, please join our mailing list. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the future of McGilvra Elementary and public education in our state.
