The goal of the McGilvra PTA is to achieve the best education for our students through community building, fundraising, outreach and advocacy, bridging home and school for collaboration between parents and teachers

Through your generous support of time and money, the McGilvra PTA is able to ensure McGilvra is remains the special place our children love. Many programs that significantly contribute to  the McGilvra experience are funded through our PTA, not by Seattle Public Schools.

• Student Learning Enrichment and Classroom Support – We underwrite, in whole or in part, the school’s art instructor, academic interventionist and math and reading tutors. We’ve provided teacher training including Greg Tang Math training, inclusion and bullying training and literacy.

• After School Enrichment – Over one-third the our students participate in after school enrichment programs including Lego, piano, chess, dance, filmmaking and more.

• In-School Community Events – The PTA sponsors a number of all school community events. Bingo Night, School Socials, and Celebrate McGilvra night all bring students, parents and staff together for fun, community-building events.

• External Community Events – Each year we organize clean-ups of local parks and playgrounds.

• Operations & Safety and Security – Our grant ensures emergency supplies will be refreshed and provides for other  improvements to the schools’ safety and security.

• Legislative Advocacy – As needed we advocate for such things as special education, safety and security, and funding.
