Support our school!

The McGilvra PTA provides critical funding to support our school. Our fundraising goal for the 2025-26 school year is $270,000. We achieve this goal through three fundraisers: the Annual Fund Drive (fall), the Read-a-thon (winter) and the auction (spring).

The funds collected directly support student learning with 80% of the budget paying to ensure we have a full-time math and reading specialist, school tutors, and an art program. The PTA also cover the cost of an onsite coordinator so that we can offer a great selection of year-round after-school enrichment classes, school events, the library, the school garden and classroom projects.

The cost of these programs and services is approximately $1,470 per student. Without financial assistance from the McGilvra community, we will not be able to continue to support these vital programs at the school.

  • The McGilvra PTA helps fill the gap between what public funding provides and what students truly need. It funds vital programs cut from schools, like art, math and reading support.

  • Based upon the current PTA budget, the cost to fund these programs averages $1,470 per student, per year. We know that not everyone can contribute at this level. Every dollar counts so please give whatever you are able – even if it is a small amount.  For those who are able, consider making a contribution that can cover additional students whose families might not be able to give as generously.  

  • The PTA work with the principal to identify gaps in the budget. This typically includes specialists, supplies, and operating support. Every year we ask parents to participate in an all-school survey asking how they want to see PTA funds used.  Each spring we hold a budget meeting where PTA members vote on the budget for the next year.  Want to have a say in our funding decisions?  Be sure to join the PTA! 

  • Yes! The McGilvra PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Many companies also offer corporate matching gift programs, which can double—or even triple—the impact of your contribution. Employers like Microsoft, Boeing, Disney, Expedia, The Gates Foundation, Nordstrom, Adobe, and Starbucks are just a few of the generous companies that support employee giving. Don’t forget to submit your match—it’s an easy way to make your donation go even further!
